Tuesday 6th Major Excavation finished

Well today started with the worst weather forecast for weeks I was getting worried that bad weather plus the delays of yesterday would give me significant problems. -  there was still lots and lots of digging to do and lots of trucks needed to take away all this stuff
So how did we get on? judge for yourself

Well at last you can see all of the pipes
Going left to right
we have the water pipe (no idea how John the digger avoided to break it)
next we have the electricity cable and finally the gas pipe

Then we had lots of trucks coming to take away the chalk in all we had 3 trucks yesterday plus 4 trucks today so roughly that is 140 tons of rubble not forgetting the wall which you may have noticed is no longer there

By 3pm  we managed to dig out the complete excavation and the digger went home,Bob then finished off the afternoon excavating the service trenches - he also got very very wet. I told bob it was a pity it rained so hard , his response "helps wash the dirt away" says this is a man with a positive outlook on life.
Close up of the Old gas pipe

I am looking forward to tomorrow as we have a visit from the great National Grid Company who are responsible to lower the gas main from the street. I have no idea how this is done - I will tell you how it is done tomorrow.

So this brings day 2 to an end so far on plan - good job I am a project manager!
